Fuck!

It is after 4:30am in the morning and I am still awake!

Been working on a website update and some icons.

We will be doing our usual New Year's Eve with our best friends - dinner, game/movie/puzzle, quiet toast with sodas and lots of smooches with our mates.

Judging from the hour, I will probably not be around much for the rest of the day.

I am a little early for this part of the world, but HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Thank you for all your love and support!

The dentist appt. yesterday went without a hitch. I now have a shiny temporary crown in the back of my mouth. The dentist and I always talk about Japanese culture and the books and movies we have experienced about it. He mentioned "Across the Nightingale Floor", which is a book Dasia gave me for Xmas last year. I devoured it and did not realize two more books had been added to the series. The dentist says he will bring them to me so I can borrow them when I get my permanent crown done in January. I need to find him some good samurai anime and give it to him.

I have a $25 Frys gift certificate I got from a co-worker for Xmas so we went yesterday to see if I could spend it. I looked at the vast anime offering and could not make a decision. So we went to see if they had a PS2 - they were currently out. So we went to check on a new monitor for me - plasma - and the 17" Viewsonic I wanted was currently out. I was beat, burning up hot and sitting on the floor by the time the guy came back to tell us about the monitor so we left. Of course, when we got home I passed out for a few hours.

The annual physical with my regular doc (internal medicine) went fine today as well. Except for the fact I am so lethargic and fall asleep in the middle of the day for at least two hours without any real explanation and my chest pain keeps coming back, I am healthy. The lethargy is probably thyroid-related and it will take a little while for my system to get used to the new dose. I do another blood test in January to see if it is enough. I have new sinus drugs to try since the old ones have stopped working.

We went to Dennys for breakfast afterward and when I got home I got a killer headache so I passed out in front of FF2 for a few hours.

I have barely gotten anything done creative this week and it is almost Wednesday, damnit!

Health Update

Sixteen weeks and counting.

I do not think the thyroid adjustment is not enough. I am still falling asleep when I get home in the evening and even find myself nodding off at the office. I have had to resort to caffeine-laden food and drink (chocolate, tea, hot cocoa) to keep myself from crashing nose first into my office computer's keyboard.

I still feel the effects of my fucked lungs. When I breathe deeply (like taking in the wonderful snow scent I love so much) I feel a small bit of pain in my sides. I have this lump of muscle under one shoulder blade in my back that likes to make an appearance when I sit up for too long. The costrochondritus is still pestering me, sometimes poking me hard. I am still taking anti-inflamatories to help it.

I go to the doc on Tuesday for my yearly physical and to get my yearly prescriptions for the mailorder drug plan.

Monday, I get a temporary crown put on my far right lower molar. I have had metal in my back teeth almost as long as I have had my permanent teeth. At the time, it was the best they could do. Dental science is SO much better now. The metal stuffed in my teeth is now deteriorating and cracking. This particular tooth needs a crown to save it. I have already had a root canal done to two teeth and a crown put on another. My molars are crap but the rest of my teeth seem to be fine.

I have lots of things to catch up with and say but instead of doing one long entry, I will be posting lots of little ones throughout the day and maybe into the next few days. Writing up a long post can be stressful for me, since I am trying to remember everything. My brain does not always function well under stress. Duh...

Grr...

Will try to catch up with everyone during this BORING day, but I have to leave here early to de-ice my car again.

Oh, I almost did not get home last night - both my car doors were frozen shut. I finally had to literally throw myself at the door to get it loose enough to open the door.

Yuki ga arimasu yo!

There is snow!

It is small to medium flakes, coming down pretty hard and it is starting to cover the grass and cold spots of the cement.

Please, let it hard freeze tonight so it will be dangerous to drive tomorrow, so the campus will be CLOSED the last day we have to be open before the holiday!

I left the office at 11:30am after feeling sleepy, nauseated, clammy and getting hot and cold flashes. I crashed in front of FF2 and slept until about 2:30pm, when rat stopped playing and went off to mail imayb1's package and pick up something to eat.

I thought I had some kind of flu but I have found if I stay prone, I feel fine, even if I am ridiculously sleepy. I have a copious amount of sinus drainage happening so now I am thinking that was what all this was about.

I still feel like crap so I am going to get off the computer and get prone again.

Will have to send ecards tomorrow.

Money and Bills and Mail, oh my!

Working on bills and mail this morning. Using paypal to access my checking account to pay for things like my web host has been great. I have been able to move most of credit card debt to just a few cards with low interest rates and pay for everything else with 'checks', the equivalent of real money. Except for those cards holding the balance of the rest of the cards, any other credit card use gets paided off every month. I am determined to get out of debt eventually and only use cards when money is there to back them up. Of course, emergencies like cars blowing up will screw with the system, but for the most part, I am getting it under control.

rat sent off physical postcards yesterday. I will be sending virtual cards to everyone soon. I need to adjust the dpi so the file size is not so large then make the actual dimensions smaller.

Got a card from drama_mama84! I got a written note as well! Yes, more Saiyuki!

Got a pisser surprise in the mail - imayb1, your other pressie landed here instead at your house! I have sent an email to the idiot in Japan about how I specifically said to mail it to YOUR address and how I expect him/her to pay for the shipping we have to put out to mail it again. Sorry, you will not get it in time for Xmas. I will send rat out to mail it to you sometime this week.

Health
I still fall asleep in front of the TV in the early evening and doze for a couple hours, damnit. At least now I force myself to go to bed a decent hour as well. I am hoping the new med will kick in soon. At least I am not trying to fall asleep at work anymore. I am not getting that itchy/tired eye feeling as much either. Sinuses are acting up because yet again, TX cannot decide what kind of weather to have. That DOES make my eyes dry. The Weather Channel says we are to get rain mixed with snow tomorrow, something I do not believe because it is just not cold enough. Even the predicted temp of 42 tomorrow should not give us any snow. No matter what, it wrecks havoc on the old nose and my poor eyes.

Bah Humbug

I am more bah hum-bug this year than most. Having fucked ribs so I cannot even gently sing, has me to the point I do not want to hear Xmas music in any way, shape or form. I actually will walk across a room and turn off a radio if I hear one. It depresses me because I used to be able to sing.

Because of the chaos in our apt., I stopped putting up any of the trees some years ago, something I really enjoyed doing. The 7ft tree would take a week to put up - over 1000 multi-coloured lights, half blinking, half steady - took one night alone to string on the tree. I weave the lights along the branches so each large branch would actually have four strands of lights - one each of the blinking and steady - woven along either side of the actual branch of the artifical tree. The large tree has a mixture of ornaments, a hodgepodge of all sorts of themes.

Yes, you read correctly - trees. I have trees in various sizes and each tree has a set of lights and ornaments for it. If we ever moved into a house I would have a decorated tree in every room. No, the kitchen would not have one kitchen-themed. rat is such a picky eater I don't cook anymore. I refuse to cook what he likes, which is fried crap.

The 4 ft tree would get white lights with crystal, silver, white and frosted ornaments. Sure, some colour would be added as a splash sometimes, like a faery with pastel clothing.

I pretty much stopped shopping for and buying those perfect ornaments as well, something else I loved doing. I gave some ornaments this year, as my habit, and only bought two small brass reindeer for myself.

I am too lazy even to dig out the 2ft tree...

I know we can get away with no tree because we have zero kids and we do not have people over because of the chaos.

I am starting to be more awake now.

I have been busy with cleaning up the Xmas card scan since last night so I will not be around much this weekend. I have to get it cleaned, toned and resized. Then I have to set up the printing files with all the addresses, etc. This is a PRESSING matter to get completed asap so it has priority over anything else I would like to be doing.

I also have to rearrange my website because some dip-shit linked directly to my oekaki page without first asking permission, thus bypassing my hit counter, warnings, etc. Repeated requests to remove the link has received no reply so in the last email I threatened to post in the page's place just exactly how unprofessional their site was for not asking permission first. I have to gather my ammo for that this weekend. This means I have to change the links in all MY pages as well. Dreamweaver will allow me to 'find and replace' the whole site but I still have to upload every page again. *sigh* Maybe I should put a rude photo of naked men there as well (I am talking NASTY), so when people from the other site click they will get a rude awakening and complain to the site that linked without permission.

Bought the 50 icons option yesterday. Haven't had time to load much, though. I also want to do something about custom moods as well. When I can find the time...

Haven't had time to work on the betas of stories nor research paper - SORRY!!!

Health Update

Oh yeah, last Thursday was the beginning of fourteen weeks for this illness, which is finally beginning to get better.

I have to watch my talking 'quota' so I do not strain myself. I have some kind of muscle lump behind one of my shoulderblades rat has been working on but it will not go away quickly. It keeps my back hurting but is slowly getting better. The anti-inflamatories are helping to a degree and the Ben-Gay works as well.

I had a fasting blood test Monday in preparation for my physical the last week of 2004, when I usually go in for 'maintenance. The campus is closed and everyone gets the week off between Xmas and New Years.

I got the results of the blood work back today before I left the office. Seems my thyroid med needs to be increased. It was decreased a few years ago when it was causing my heart to race and I was losing weight for an unknown reason. That it is low again definitely explains why I have been so sleepy all the time the past weeks. And here I first thought it had something to do with going off the steroid and me needing to catch up on my sleep. I have to move around periodically at the office to keep from falling asleep at my desk and it still does not help sometimes. My right eye begins to sag then I am rolling my head around stupidly. So, I have to take the amount I was taking a few years ago, .175, for a month, then get another blood test. Luckily I still have enough of the old pills so I do not have to make a trip to the doc for samples for a month.

I am also getting a temporary crown the week I am off, with the real one fitted Jan 10. The tooth was fine until the dentist jabbed that sharp tool into the old filling. I have been suffering with what I thought was TMJ for the past few days, then realized my jaw was okay but I had a lump inside by my jawbone - just irritated. It is not a bad pain, just a little annoying. It will be fixed soon so I am pretty much ignoring it.

Xmas Shopping and Giving

Because I have not been able to get out, I finally did my main Xmas shopping Sunday. I am pissed off Container Store did not have all the stocking stuffer gifts I was wanting for the office but they said they sell out of them quickly. The keychains with the eyeglass cloths inside were perfect since all but one wear glasses, but they were out. Luckily, plan B got me something for some people - Xmas ornaments. The little watercolour paint kit went to one boss and a bunch of ornaments and a funky tape measure went to the main boss.

Everyone got their gifts on Monday. It originally looked like no one was going to show up to work but me and J but everyone ended up coming in before grades were due so I was able to pass out the gift bags.

Oh, you will get a kick out of this - the main boss gave me a present last Friday before the office party - a box of chocolate mints and a book called, - are you ready for this? - KOKIGAMI! She knew I had written a story about it so she got me the book! That's great because I cannot find our copy, which is the old edition and no longer available. The tiny paper costumes DO show up again, in a cameo role, in one of my working stories.

To Stay or to Leave...

I think I am going to have to drop the lj community, yaoi_daily, because I cannot keep up with it! I only look at Aja's entries now. I feel overwhelmed with boy love!

Mail Call

Well, I am finally getting to my long-neglected mail...

Got a card and fancy chocolates from the Taylor family - THANK YOU! It's the perfect gift for the holidays! rat and I haven't opened it yet. I think we are waiting for Xmas to enjoy them, while watching anime, of course! *HUG*

Great Xmas card, Aja! But when I am bad, I am better! *naughty laugh*

Got some goodies I won on eBay. Yes, I even got a Vegeta keyring! I made a comment on feedback about wanting another and the guy says he has one and will sell it to me for the same price. Yay! Now I can put one on my keychain.

Bad News, though. One of the seller idiots sent me the DVDs for someone's Xmas present. I suspect either Joules or Lutra's goodie was sent here instead of there. Grr.

Hard to Believe

I cannot believe the Alliance Chronicles have been completed! It is a sad day, but I know Joules and Lutra are ready to get on with new writing projects. And I don't see it as being over because I know the Chronicles will always be something special to me! The characters are unforgettable, to the point I was inspired to draw! I still have some stuff to complete for that series sitting in the 'finish these, damnit!' file.

Stunned

One of our ren faire friends was working security for Dimebag last Thursday. Yes, Jeff is dead, one of the four murdered. When he gave me a hug, I felt like I was a size 3. The Scottish Games will not be the same without him. He was one of those big men who was all muscle, probably almost seven feet in height, a pleasant, smiling face and one of the sweetest men you would ever meet.

I miss him.

To end on an up-note - You Tempt Me, Woman

Aja, I now want to buy more icons.... Evil....

another up-note - Car Status

After finding my Geo Metro with a flat tire in the campus parking lot last night,
discovering rat was not at home,
freezing my ass off trying to get the trunk cleaned out to get to the spare (the hatchback does not stay open so if you are not careful it will cut you in half),
finally getting rat on the phone,
having him come out change the flat (now in the dark) to the spare that had not been touched since I bought the car in '94 (the tools were still in the original plastic),
driving on the spare until it blew out a few minutes later,
driving on the rim to the gas station to get some air,
paying for air and finding out the tire was no longer sealed to the rim (popped the bead) and was wiggling around,
having to wait 45 minutes for AAA to arrive,
finally towing it to the tire place where it may be broken into by tomorrow morning (the only saving grace is the fact the wind chill was 37 outside so we could only hope vandals would not want to go out in the cold to do damage)...

The car was there and unharmed this morning. I took rat's car to the office. rat found out later this place did not have my size tires (too small) but the guy looked at the almost new treads, took it in the back to patch it, and did not charge us for it! So my spare is full, my tire is 'well' and we did not have to shell out sheckles!

I haven't used my hotmail account in months.

I had forgotten my web host had that email.

Well, luckily I went out there today to clean out some email. I noticed email from them. Seems I was delinquent on paying them for next year's use by one day. I paid them but it will be about 72 hours - three days - before everything is back.

It explains why I haven't been able to get to my witzend mail for the past two days.

Oops!

I have changed the email.

UPDATE: Everything is up and working again. That was a quick 72 hours.

Hope to catch up with everyone AFTER tomorrow!

Took off at 1:30pm, did some research work at home, fell asleep for an hour or so, woke up and have been at it almost non-stop since.

The folks who did the fansubs for the OVAS listed websites at the beginning of the two volumes. Did they work? Fuck NO!.

I finally figured out what to do about the hodgepodge of details to tempt people who want to know more about the anime, OVAs and manga already discussed in prior sections of the paper - put them under the subtitle, "Please Sir, I Want Some More!" and let them all live there in one clump but tie them together with a few words.

I still need to dig through the graphics for stuff for this and the manga sections.

I plan on taking off another afternoon tomorrow, so I can work on the paper until I have to turn it in tomorrow night at 6:30pm.

YIKES!!!

Just a quickie:

I am working on the research paper and, stupid me, has started putting screenshots of some of the scenes in it, even before I have finished writing it. I am so stupid doing this... The reason why I started doing it is I think they help illustrate some of the places where I am trying to explain the scene. It is easier just to show what I am talking about. I do not know how kosher that is for a research paper but I really don't care right now. It is a piece of visual media I am talking about so why NOT show examples?

rat has fixed the scanner so next up is scanning some of the manga pages, unless I can find some examples in the scanlations and other scans I can use instead. Yes, yes, I will be giving credit if I do that.

Work is a madhouse because it is finals week so don't expect to see me around during the day.

Anyway, I have been concentrating on the paper when I get home from work, along with falling asleep at weird times. We actually went to bed at 10pm last night because both of us were nodding off for some reason. We hit the bed and were out like lights, and I had even fallen asleep in front of the TV earlier last evening. I wonder if this is part of the side-effects of the new med.

So, until Friday evening, after the website update, I will probably not be around here very much and my email will probably be pretty dormant as well. I will try to pop in here quickly and check my email once a day but I cannot promise anything.

This past weekend

Saturday was spent sleeping most of the time, then actually WRITING ON THE RESEARCH PAPER!!! During the day I was only able to get small sections of it worked on because the FUCKING HEADACHE was still pounding away between my poor eyes.

I was just not hungry all day but knew I had to finally eat at some point because eating CAN relieve some of the headache pain. Sometimes, not eating causes headaches for me, but this was not a lack-of-food headache. This is the one that's been pestering me since last Sunday. So I pulled out the mandarin chicken salad rat had gotten me Thursday (they keep well, too) out of the refrigerator and watch some CN while eating.

Saturday night, about 8pm, I suddenly broke out in this cold sweat on my forehead. For the next half-hour the sweat progressed along my arms and legs and down my body and I was a lot cooler. Slowly the headache started to disapate and moved to the back of my neck. I still have a headache but it is now a dull roar, not the blinding pain it has been the past full week. I can live with headaches that are dull roars.

I went into the bedroom and worked on the research paper until about 12:30am, when I sent rat a text message to come home. He called me right back, saying he was in the process of saying goodbye and would be leaving shortly. I stayed up waiting for him so he could call me periodically on the road, which he did at various intervals agreed on during the prior call. He got home about 3:30am, which means he cut an hour off the usual time (3 & a half to 4 hours one-way) by speeding along at 80 mph most of the way. He says he passed by many cops but none pulled him over, thankfully!

Anyway, I got up about 9am on Sunday and woke him up about 11am. We both wilted in the afternoon and napped from about 4pm until about 7pm.

rat finished FF1 and has begun FF2. Right now he is just running around a few areas, killing things to accumulate gold so he can buy stuff to outfit his party with better armour and weapons.

I finished getting all the corrections into the research paper AND integrated the translation charts into the body of the paper. Yay! I also added some info to the notes, like about Maki Murakami, Crocodile Ave. and the Remix doujin. I added the "Help" doujin and the Remix doujin to the Sources Cited and still need to add the Remix scanlation website sources and the Remix compilations to it.

Now I have a few brand-new sections to write about - one specifically being the timeline of the manga, OVAs, TV series, etc. from the second Art Book. I will be taking craptop-ni to the office this week.

I do not know if I will have time for the Powerpoint presentation, especially since my scanner is acting up. It says it needs new drivers, which is silly because nothing has changed with any settings lately. I may have to take some shots of the books with the digital camera at the office instead of scanning them there. I need to see exactly what official artworks I have saved on my hard drive and use them if they are decent enough images.

I need to go out and do some Xmas shopping - blegh.

I will have to catch up with everyone a little later. I am about to pass out again.

Health:

I am now into the 13th week of this 'illness'. Lucky 13, in some ways.

Good news - my chest and back are MUCH better! I was able to talk more yesterday without blowing myself out too badly. I get twinges occasionally and my back still hurts but it IS better. Surprising, the Ben Gay is helping, too.

Bad news - I STILL have the fucking headache!

I left the office at 3pm yesterday, which is the latest so far. The headache drives me to go home and sleep it off. Today I held on and lasted two more hours and made it to 5pm, but it was an iffy thing. I needed to be there for the final meeting of the Anime Club today and be available from 1:30-5pm. They had a pizza party and showed "Tokyo Godfathers", which is SUCH a great and well-crafted holiday film.

Anyway, when I got home, I ate then fell asleep in front of the TV watching "Millenium Actress", so rat stopped it so I could continue sleeping for a while. The headache rules now.

This Weekend:

rat goes to Abilene this Saturday for the Xmas concert. Now that I have blown off the Japanese final, I could actually go with him, but there is no ticket for me. Oh well.

I am actually feeling the need to complete the research paper, which is amazing and good! I hope to work on it between sleep sessions throughout the weekend, so I won't be around, yet again.

I just updated the website tonight with more oekaki.

World Lit class:

It was a great class last night because the students who gave their presentations talked about more than just their papers. They talked about how the class had helped them understand this or that, how they had picked up interesting elements in various anime, how anime had helped them bond with their kids, etc. Almost all of them said they were now addicted to anime. Yay! More have seen the light!

One of my team members says she's an anime convert now and since she is a teacher, she interviewed the various age groups at her grade school about anime and what the kids liked. Now she is considered 'cool' by the kids! Her paper topic is about how anime is a good thing for children to watch and how parents should not discount it. She plans on working something up to submit to educational and parenting magazines!

It was really an excellent class. Of course, since I hauled ALL sorts of Gravi shit with me, we did not finish everyone's papers, so during our final exam time next Thursday the last five students will give their presentations, the research papers will be turned in and if we have time, we will watch some anime. It was funny; last night at least three people did not realize the presentations were due and were looking forward to seeing some anime! More folks commented about how they really liked the fact we usually saw something each week.

I had brought one of my Saiyuki artbooks and my Wolf's Rain artbook and passed them around the circle as people gave their presentations. I also passed around a book I thought all the students would benefit from having in their library: "The Anime Companion: What's Japanese in Japanese Animation" by Gilles Poitras.

Okay, those who know me, know I don't squeal. But I am getting ready to now.

Squeal!!!

Because the most wonderous Aja, with whom I share brain cells, gave me something for Xmas I would never give myself, six months of paid LJ!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

*smooch-smooch-smooch-smooch*

*pulls out bath sheet to wipe Aja down*

Recently I was making lots of icons with my oekaki, with the idea of imbedding them into the body of entries like emoticons. Now I will have to decide which ones to use, or if I will need to make others for the various emotions I will be needing for this project!

You can see a few of them loaded already, whee!

Again, SQUEAL!!!!!

Back from the doctor

Well...

The doctor says my lungs are fine. It is just going to take some time for the costochondritus to heal up. He told me to think of it like arthritis.

The headaches may be an indication of the sleep deprivation I am still suffering.

If I am still dealing with this pain in a few weeks he wants to send me to a specialist who deals with chronic pain. He says I should not have to live with this pain.

I now have some anti-inflammatories to take twice a day, Of course, the little stickers say they may cause drowsiness and/or dizziness. Greattttt.... That means I will probably be fucked up one side and down the other tomorrow.

He also recommended me get Ben-Gay and use it to help with the pain. Guess what - rat will just 'hate' having to rub it on my back and front every night.... He nodded and smiled wickedly when I told him I would need his help.

I still have the stamina to work only half-days. If I hadn't gone to the doc's today at 1pm I would have left the office and gone home anyway because the headache had moved from the back of my head to the front between my eyes again. Aspirin won't kill it. I do not take Aleve because I abused it during a bout of tooth pain and now it makes my digestive tract bleed.

story idea

This entire experience has piqued an idea for a Gravi story, much like the rl experience Aja had with the cheap perfume. As much as people bitch about self-insertion, etc., I think using rl experiences in fanfic, or any fic for that matter, helps add that touch of reality to a piece and I for one believe in using life experiences to inspire stories.

flashcards, Japanese and World Lit

rat ran my flashcards for me while we waited for the doc. Amazingly enough, I actually knew a little more than half of them. Seems the fog is FINALLY lifting. I even considered going to class tonight. However, when we got home at 3:30m, I fell asleep in front of the TV and did not wake up until 6pm. Class started at 5:20pm. Oh well... I think I will skip the final, too, since CE students don't have to take it.

Yes, I am giving up. It was heartening I could remember some of the flashcards after only looking over a few of them once, so I am to the point I am just ready for Japanese to be over for the semester.

For World Lit, I need to gather all the stuff together for the presentation tomorrow evening. Since I will probably only work a half-day again tomorrow, I will do that when I get home. I plan on taking a bunch of stuff (manga in English and Japanese, artbooks, the various subs and dubs on dvd, VHS and cd, sound story and music cds, some clean content doujishi) so the class can see all the various things available for research for a specific anime/manga. I may even take unrelated paper topic books like artbooks from Saiyuki, Wolf's Rain, and DNAngel, so they see most series have these kinds of items available.

manga

rat finally got "Golden Cain" from the office. It has been sitting down there since the 15th of the month but we did not know about it until I checked amazon and saw the delivery date listed. When we got the package we noticed they had marked it 208 instead of 206. If you looked closely, the curved top of the six did connect somewhat to the bottom half of the number so it kinda looked like an eight.

It is prettily drawn and an interesting story. I would like more but it looks like it's a one-shot.

Health

I will be going to the doctor this afternoon about the chest pain and headaches. It is a work-in appointment so who knows how long I will have to sit there and wait. *sigh* I have no clue if I will be able to function enough to go to Japanese or not tonight. If he pokes me like he did last time, and made me scream in agony, I will be worn to shreds after the appointment.

Yesterday I left the office at 2pm, came home, ate the mandarin chicken salad rat had gotten me, ate the nicely frozen Frosty from a few days ago, then passed out in front of the TV for about three hours. The headache wakes me up, I take more aspirin, I plop back in front of the TV to watch rat do FF1 and then the headache makes me fall asleep again.

The headaches are now worse than the chest pain, which seems to be easing off. However, yesterday at work I did not talk much. I did a lot of mime, sign language and whispering. When I talk, I vibrate the chest cavity, which causes everything to start getting inflamed again. Whispering is also damaging but it is not as bad as talking.

I have no idea what the doctor will say today. rat is going to meet me there and be my moral support. I do love that man to distraction.

Classes

I dread taking the oral and written Japanese quiz cold turkey because the only thing I remember is "Massugu itte kudasai.", which is 'Please go straight.' Everything else is a foggy mess in my brain. The few verbs are not there and they should be.

If I end up showing up for Japanese class tonight, I know I am going to completely fumble both sections of the quiz because NOTHING will stick in my head. You would think a few little verbs would not be too difficult, but right now I look at the study guide and flashcards and everything looks completely new and foreign to me, like I have never seen any of it before. It's that bad. Sensei likes to use a computer analogy when it comes to getting things into the brain. So, using this analogy, the information is NOT even getting to the floppy drive, let alone the hard drive. I know the info was on the hard drive at one point, but it is like everything has been reformatted.

I have done nothing for the ORAL presentation due Thursday. I don't want to talk and fuck myself up again.

What? No More Yarn?

The wonderful yarn and cross-stitch shop that carries great stuff no one else does is closing for good. The owner is retiring and the lease is up so they are even selling the fixtures. There goes my source for British and Canadian yarns. I don't know when I will get over there to buy a bunch of stuff I probably will not use for years and years. I have three overflowing baskets of yarns that sits in front of me when I sit in front of the TV. One has 100% cotton yarn I was using to make potholders and such, one is filled with crochet threads of all kinds and one has this incredibly soft acrylic yarn I was using to make random granny squares to eventually make an afghan for myself and another, more specialized granny square (which turned out all crimply so I will have to block them all) for a baby afghan that never happened. Just to let you know, the colours for the baby afghan are burgundy red, purple and black. No pastels, thank you. It is one of the many projects I need to get back to. Projects like these and cross-stitch are difficult to do in conjunction with watching subtitled anime.

I suppose I will have to start looking for web sources for the yarns.

I am happy Jacque is going to retire but sad the store has to close.

I really do not consider myself kind and nice. I am an ogre under the bridge, a dragon in the cave, an instigator in an office of limp noodles. And double altruistic? That's a laugh. I love people, especially children, with either a tempura or beer batter.

How Capricorn Are You?

It's because I don't have those hardcore ambitions and drive to succeed and make lots of money by being a cut-throat goat I did not score that high.

You are 60% Capricorn
